Firestone cancels April 3 election

The Town of Firestone has canceled its April 3 election because petitions were received for the four available seats and no applicants filed affidavits for a write-in candidacy. The official cancellation was made on March 16, by Firestone Acting Town Clerk Rebecca Toberman, who declared candidates elected. Candidates will be officially seated at the April 11 Board of Trustees meeting.

Firestone Trustee and Mayor Pro-tem Paul Sorensen said the residents he has met with have a great deal of confidence in the way the town is being managed. “Saving the cost of the election is a plus, but the positive attitude of our residents is a vote of confidence to continue working together for the future of our community.”

Positions open on the Town of Firestone Board of Trustees include the mayor, who serves a two-year term, and three trustees, who serve four-year terms. Incumbent Mayor Chad Auer is running again for the mayor seat, as well as incumbent Trustees Paul Sorensen and Matt Holcomb. Current Planning Commissioner George Heath is seeking the third trustee seat.
