Businesses asked to pitch in for museum

LONGMONT – The organizers of a capital campaign to raise funds to expand the Longmont Museum & Cultural Center are asking businesses to help reach their goal of $4.5 million.

Ninety-eight percent of the goal has been raised, and organizers are looking for 20 businesses to form teams and compete to raise a minimum of $3,000 each. The deadline for completion of fundraising is May 13.

Expansion of the museum at 400 Quail Road will include a 250-seat auditorium, an atrium event space, and a new education and meeting space.

In preparation for Republic Services becoming the primary provider of residential recycling, yard trimmings, and trash, residents should now select the best cart size and service schedule for their household needs.

Businesses can form a team within their own organization, outside clients or friends. The contest is called Unity in the Community, and several teams have already signed up to participate since it was first announced March. 6.

Businesses may raise the funds through contests, in-house competitions, employee match programs or a portion of sales.

Teams will receive exhibition passes, an auditorium rental voucher and recognition through ads in local media. Each successful team will be permanently recognized in the atrium of the new auditorium, and with a seat naming opportunity in the auditorium. Special awards will be made to those that raise the most, meet their target earliest, and attract the greatest number of contributors.

Teams should sign up through Stacy Cornay, via e-mail at scornay@comm-concepts.com or call her at 303-651-6612.
