Boulder OfficeMax to close May 16

BOULDER — The OfficeMax store at the Market Square Shopping Center in Boulder will close May 16.

The office-supply store at 1880 30th St. appears to be the second casualty in the region from the Office Depot/OfficeMax merger in November 2013 that created Office Depot Inc. (Nasdaq: ODP) with about 1,600 stores.

At the time of the merger, Office Depot said it would shutter up to 400 stores nationwide to eliminate some stores in close proximity to each other.
