Sphero adds gaming developer to board

BOULDER – Boulder robotic toy-maker Orbotix Inc., which now does business as Sphero, has beefed up its board of directors with the addition of gaming industry veteran Mike Capps.

 

The company said Tuesday that Caps has joined the board as Sphero’s first independent director.

Capps is the former president of Epic Games, having led the development and creation of Unreal Engine, a suite of integrated tools for game developers.

 

“Mike is one of the most highly regarded, successful, and well respected development executives in the game business,” Sphero CEO Paul Berberian said. “He has many opportunities he could have chosen and we are honored he chose to join Sphero.”

 

Sphero earlier this year raised a Series D funding round of about $16.5 million. And last month, the company released Ollie, a second toy to its lineup to join the original Sphero.
