‘Economic Forecast 2002’ slated for Jan. 10

Expert panel to discuss local economy

GREELEY – Economic Forecast 2002, a luncheon event presented by The Northern Colorado Business Report, will be conducted Jan. 10 at the University of Northern Colorado University Center Ballroom in Greeley.

The annual event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will feature a panel discussion moderated by Business Report editor Tom Hacker. Panelists will discuss major industries and topics, including agriculture, banking, health care, real estate, the stock market, technology and the economy overall.

Panelists include:

  • The Economy/Agriculture: Dr. John Green, an economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Fort Collins and researcher behind The Northern Colorado Business Report’s quarterly Index of Leading Economic Indicators.
  • Banking: Bill Farr, President & CEO of Centennial Bank of the West.
  • Health Care: Carol Plock, executive director of the Poudre Health Services District in Fort Collins.
  • Real Estate: Bill Neal, a real estate developer with Wheeler Commercial Property Services and Crawford-Neal Real Estate.
  • Stock Market: Dr. Junius Peake, Monfort Distinguished Professor of Finance at the University of Northern Colorado’s Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business.
  • Technology: Tara Bunch, general manager of Digital Imaging Solutions and e-Services with Hewlett-Packard Co. in Greeley.

    Business Report co-publisher Jeff Nuttall said the current national recession, local high-tech layoffs and the war against terrorism make “Economic Forecast 2002” an important event for the region.

    “This Economic Forecast comes at a critical time in the economy,” Nuttall said. “Business owners and managers want to know what lies ahead not only for the global and national economies, but especially the local economy. Our panel will bring a great deal of experience and insight to this issue.”
