Sponsors, exhibitors sought for Latino business conference

LONGMONT — The Colorado Latino Chamber is looking for additional sponsors and businesses to participate next month in the 11th annual Emerge: Colorado Latino Business Conference.

The conference, to be held Oct. 15 at the Plaza Conference Center in Longmont, is the Latino Chamber’s premier event for showcasing businesses and building connections with regional firms, government agencies, local nonprofits, and individuals in the Latino business community. Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia is to deliver the keynote address.

With support from Google, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the University of Colorado, the cities of Longmont and Boulder and the Boulder Valley School District, among others, the daylong conference is likely to be the region’s largest-ever event for those involved in or interested in Latino businesses and customers, said Jose Beteta, executive director of the Latino Chamber.

WomenGive, a program of United Way of Larimer County, was started in Larimer County in 2006 as an opportunity for women in our community to come together to help other women.

“We’re working incredibly hard to pull together an unmatched collection of professionals from in and around Boulder County to help develop new connections and increased reach for businesses,” Beteta said in a media release.

New this year will be a Young Rebels Entrepreneurship Competition, featuring teams of underrepresented students from 12 public and private high schools in Boulder County. The teams have been challenged to hatch an idea, draft a business plan and present their ideas to subject-matter experts. The top three teams will compete for $9,000 in prize money and up to 10 students will be selected to receive a free laptop or tablet.

Additional support is welcomed and organizers have a limited number of exposition spaces remaining. For more information on how to get involved: visit www.thelatinoconference.com, or contact Beteta at 202-423-7060 or jbeteta@latinochamberbc.org.
