Baywood, TMI Hospitality planning hotels in Longmont

LONGMONT —Baywood Hotels Inc. and TMI Hospitality Inc. are planning to build four-story hotels in Longmont, adding 203 rooms to the city’s existing inventory of 747 rooms.

Those two hotels, plus a Candlewood Suites under construction in southwest Longmont, would bring the hotel-room count in the city to 1,055.

Baywood wants to build a 108-unit Home2Suites by Hilton on two acres of land at 1319 Grand Grande Ave., and TMI hopes to build a 95-room Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott at 1089 S. Hover St., according to planning documents.

The Fairfield Inn will be built on 2.6 acres of vacant land at the northeast corner of Trade Centre Avenue and Dry Creek Drive. The land is behind Cold Stone Creamery, Noodles and Co.  and Wendy’s Restaurant, all of which front Hover Street.

The Fairfield Inn will be the fourth Marriott in southwest Longmont. A Courtyard, Residence Inn and Springhill Suites are located in the 1400 block of Dry Creek Drive.

The Fairfield Inn will be approximately 54,700 square feet and include breakfast services, a meeting room, fitness, pool and spa areas, and laundry services. TMI is asking for a height variance to accommodate the highest roof parapet at 55 feet. The majority of the building will be 46 feet high, one foot higher than the 45-foot limit for the area.

Maryland-based Baywood Hotels is proposing to build the 108-unit hotel on 2 acres of vacant land currently owned by Sherman Village LLLP. Keyur Naik with Baywood said the company is in the process of acquiring the land.

The hotel will be east of South Sherman Street and north of Grand Avenue. It will be behind the Sherman Village Shopping Center that fronts Ken Pratt Boulevard.

A 105-room Candlewood Suites Hotel is under construction at the intersection of Dry Creek and Clover Basin drives, a project headed by Boulder developers Stephen Tebo and David Chaknova.

Candlewood Suites is a brand of the InterContinental Hotels Group based in Denham, United Kingdom. The brand is made up of extended-stay hotels targeting business travelers that are either company owned or run by a franchisee.
