Avago job growth to push Fort Collins facility to 1,300 by year’s end

FORT COLLINS – The 100 open jobs that Avago Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: AVGO) is showing off at a job fair on Saturday are all for newly created positions added to keep up with strong-performing customers, a company official confirmed Wednesday.

The new hires, which should all be made by the end of the year, will bring Avago’s Fort Collins operations to 1,300 employees and fill out the company’s recently expanded campus at 4380 Ziegler Road, said Dan Jolliff, the local human resources director for Avago.

“We have a lot of demand so we’re trying to expand the capacity of the facility here in Fort Collins,” Jolliff said. “We need the capacity now, but it’s going to take us awhile to add that many (employees).”

Avago – which has dual headquarters in Singapore and San Jose, Calif. – makes integrated circuits for a variety of electronic devices. The company’s Fort Collins campus is its largest. Recruiting firm Manpower announced on Wednesday that it was putting on the job fair at Avago to feature the mostly manufacturing and operations jobs.

The expansion of the Fort Collins facility comes as the company’s stock continues its steady climb that started in the fall of 2013. Avago shares were trading at $110.06 Wednesday afternoon, down slightly from the previous day but nearly triple their closing mark of $38.99 on Sept. 13, 2013. In December, the company reported a net profit of $263 million for its fiscal year that ended Nov. 2.

Avago acquired LSI Logic last May before selling off LSI’s flash and Axxia networking business to Intel Corp.

The 1,200 employees Avago has in Fort Collins now include about 150 who were absorbed from LSI’s local operations. Jolliff confirmed that there had been some layoffs in the wake of the LSI deal but declined to comment on the amount, saying only that nearly everyone from LSI’s Fort Collins facility had been integrated into the local Avago campus.
