BBB Safety Group receives $220K dividend

Members of the Better Business Bureau’s Safety Group received a combined dividend of $220,000 — the fifth year in row that it received such compensation.

The dividend comes as a result of the safety record of the group for the period June 1, 2018, through May 31, 2019. The money is to be applied to workers compensation safety programs.

Businesses can qualify to be members of the safety group if they are accredited members of the Northern Colorado or Greater Denver BBB organizations. Businesses also need to meet qualifications that include a two-year performance period, an acceptable loss ratio, commit to attending seminars on safety and participate in an underwriting evaluation.

Members of the Safety Group also receive a 4% discount on workers compensation premiums, the BBB said in a written statement.

Safety seminars are normally available only to Safety Group members and accredited businesses, but the next two seminars will be open free to all businesses. They are:

  • How to reduce claims with new and existing employees, May 7 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Increase sleep, increase job safety, May 14, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
