New Belgium lets employees slide
OK. They’re having too much fun again over at the local beer factory.
The Eye caught a glimpse of the 10,000-square-foot addition to New Belgium Brewing Co.’s Fort Collins plant, including the gleaming, stainless-steel spiral slide that is doubtless the quickest way to get from the second story to the first.
New Belgium has always had the reputation of being a fun place to work — what with the beer and all. But now they’re going full-playground.
American Playground Products Inc. supplied the slide, and now it’s a part of New Belgium CEO Kim Jordan’s plan to hold to “the company’s core commitment to have fun,” according to the brewer’s press release.

The second floor of the new addition houses a “professional” beer-quality tasting room, kitchen, board room and a “beer-school area.”
Also, in the New Belgium tradition of “green” building practices, the addition features recycled carpeting, “sustainable” bamboo flooring, water-saving plumbing fixtures, a heat-exchange cooling system and lots of natural lighting.
But the slide is bound to get the most attention.
Here’s hoping New Belgium had enough foresight to put in stairs, as well.
