Eldora ski area to open for season Friday

NEDERLAND — As the Town of Nederland prepares to buy it, Eldora Mountain Resort will open for the season at 9 a.m. Friday.

According to The Denver Post, the winter-sports resort will open with 1,000 vertical feet of terrain on the Hornblower and International trails, plus a small Woodward terrain park near the West Wing lodge, but no beginner terrain will be available yet.

Nederland town staff, alongside consultants and lawyers, announced recently that they had completed their due diligence into the western Boulder County municipality’s plan to purchase Eldora Mountain from Powdr Corp. and determined the ski resort to be “a high-quality, viable asset for the community.” Documents related to the deal, likely to be in the range of about $115 million to $120 million, are expected to be presented to Nederland’s Board of Trustees next Tuesday, and financing details are scheduled for review on Dec. 2, town documents show. Final approval of the Eldora purchase could occur on Dec. 16.
