Integrated Water Services to acquire Texas company

LONGMONT — Integrated Water Services Inc., a Longmont-based water and wastewater treatment solutions provider, has agreed to acquire M/MBR Systems LLC, an Austin, Texas-based manufacturer of membrane bioreactors.

Integrated Water Services is partnering with New York-based Sciens Water Opportunities Management LLC in the acquisition.

M/MBR serves selected wastewater-treatment and water-reuse markets in the U.S.

Integrating the company’s operations into IWS will “enhance IWS’ product and solutions offerings for current and new customers within the water and wastewater treatment market, leveraging IWS’ expertise in field services and design with M|MBR Systems’ product and technical expertise,” according to a press release announcing the transaction.

M|MBR Systems manufactures IWS’ BluBox Modular MBR Systems for wastewater treatment. Through the acquisition, IWS “will look to expand the market opportunities for BluBox through a greater breadth of solutions and new cross-selling opportunities,” the company said.

“The addition of M|MBR is an important step in our strategy to become North America’s premier water and wastewater treatment equipment and services provider,” Integrated Water Services CEO Rick Barrett said in a prepared statement. “This acquisition allows us to combine technology, products, and field installation to seamlessly serve our customers.”
