NW Chamber Alliance takes stance in favor of four ballot measures

BOULDER —  The Northwest Chamber Alliance, an association that includes the chambers of commerce for Boulder and Broomfield counties, has voiced support for four business-related issues on the November ballot.

The four:

  • Proposition 123: A state funding initiative for affordable workforce housing construction.
  • Ballot Issue 5A: A Boulder Valley School District bond measure that will facilitate capital construction for school buildings and investments in career and technical education facilities.
  • Ballot Issue 1A: A measure to help protect communities and regional economy from the impacts of wildfires, including damage to critical water resources.
  • Ballot Measure 1B: A provision to provide support for emergency response.

“These are challenging times for business, so we carefully scrutinize any further financial burdens,” Boulder Chamber president and CEO John Tayer said in a written statement. “In the case of these four ballot measures, we join with the Northwest Chamber Alliance in recognizing that the strength of our economy depends on targeted investments in critical community needs, such as housing, wildfire prevention, emergency response and education.”

Scott Cook, the CEO at the Longmont chamber, also spoke to the chamber alliance joint position. “We believe these are investments for the future well-being and safety of our businesses and residents.”
