WINDSOR — The town board this week amended the service plan for several Great Western Metropolitan Districts to allow for residential and mixed-use development, as well as approving the service plan and PUD for Overland 368, a new residential development.

The Great Western Metropolitan Districts, formed in 2007, have since seen much development in the Great Western Industrial Park along Eastman Park Drive, which has landed tenants such as Vestas, Hexcel, Owens-Illinois and Halliburton.

The amended service plan will allow for residential and mixed-use development in Great Western districts four and five. It will raise a maximum of $175 million in debt and consist of 2,000 residential units and about 5.79 million square feet of commercial space. The housing units will consist of about 1,154 single-family homes, 660 apartments and 186 townhomes. 

Overland 368, which will be located between Weld County Road 257 and the Great Western Railroad, is projected to include 691 single-family homes on 172 acres. The site will also feature 50 acres of open space and 15 acres reserved for a school. Its service plan calls for a maximum of $37 million in debt.
