Renewable energy push creates new cash crop on plains
The push to increase capacity of electrical power generated by wind and solar has added a cash crop to Colorado’s plains.
The Colorado Sun reported that Xcel Energy’s Power Pathway program to build an energy loop that generates power on the plains to power population centers along the Front Range.
Farmers who own the land on which the solar or wind resources are built will earn royalties for use of their land.
