Zayo completes purchase of Indiana fiber network

BOULDER — Boulder-based company Zayo Group Holdings Inc. has closed on its acquisition of Indiana Fiber Network LLC doing business as Intelligent Fiber Network, a fiber-connectivity provider serving multiple markets in Indiana.

The acquisition, which closed June 1, adds more than 5,000 route miles of dense fiber with on-net connections to almost 1,000 enterprise buildings in cities including Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Columbus, Terre Haute and South Bend. Zayo announced its intent to purchase Intelligent Fiber in March.

“IFN brings to Zayo a high-quality network, a strong team and a sharp focus on delivering exceptional service to its customer base,” Matt Steinfort, chief financial officer of Zayo, said in a written statement. “Together, we have the opportunity to leverage our combined and complementary assets to achieve regional scale and drive growth.”

The combined companies will help drive investment and growth in Indiana’s communications infrastructure and advance high-speed connectivity throughout the state. Customers will have access to both Zayo’s global reach and an expanded Indiana network that now includes more than 7,500 route miles that span the state, with on-net connectivity to more than 2,000 buildings, data centers and cell sites.

Zayo will maintain operations at IFN’s Indianapolis headquarters.

This marks Zayo’s 46th acquisition and its first under a private ownership consortium led by EQT Partners and Digital Colony Partners, which purchased Zayo for $14.3 billion in 2020.
