Employee group purchases Thunder Mountain Harley-Davidson

LOVELAND — A group of investors headed by two senior employees has acquired the Thunder Mountain Harley-Davidson Inc. motorcycle dealership in Loveland after the former owner pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor sexual-assault charge last summer.

In a statement, the dealership at 4250 Byrd Drive said its general manager Justin Lynch and general sales manager Nick Hill are now part-owners after both having been in their manager roles since 2012. The two started at Thunder Mountain in entry-level roles 21 and 18 years ago, respectively.

“After 21 years, it is a dream come true to be a partner in Thunder Mountain Harley-Davidson and continue serving our customers, the motorcycle community, and our world-class team for many more years to come,” Lynch said.

Empowering communities

Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP), part of the UnitedHealthcare family, has pledged its commitment to uplift these communities through substantial investments in organizations addressing the distinct needs of our communities.

Other members of the ownership group include Steve and Laura Tuschschmidt, who are former owners of the Harley dealership in Columbia, Missouri, and their daughter Katie Tillitt, who will join the Loveland-based dealership as its chief operating officer.

Andrew and Tonya Lear, who are longtime friends to the Tuschschmidts, also bought into the ownership group.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Former owner Todd Erdmann said last August that he would be required under a morality clause in his contract to sell his franchise with Harley-Davidson after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a server at the Hooters restaurant next to the dealership. Prosecutors lowered the charge from a felony to a misdemeanor in exchange for the plea.
