Startups to compete for Esprit Venture Challenge

BOULDER — Three local startups will compete Nov. 12 in the Boulder Chamber’s Esprit Venture Challenge pitch competition, vying for a $10,000 grand prize.

Kegstand LLC, based in Boulder, uses Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessel technologies typically used in the aerospace and natural-gas industries to help make kegs 40% lighter than the current industry-leading standard. The product could save brewers $2.50 every time they ship because the lower weight will reduce distribution costs, the company said.

Mini Money Management, based in Longmont, developed an app that parents and teachers can use to teach children about financial literacy using everyday experiences. The concept came from a game that co-founder Ellen Ross played with her son, Lorne Jenkins, the CEO, to teach him about the fundamentals of money.
