I Am Loveland gives grants to 72 local businesses

LOVELAND — I Am Loveland, a local partnership launched to support Loveland businesses amid the COVID-19 crisis, announced Tuesday it had distributed $7,756 in grant funds to 72 local businesses.

The organization, which sports the motto “Big Hearts for Small Business,” was founded by Loveland city councilwoman Andrea Samson in response, she said, to a common question from constituents: “How can I do something for my community?”

I Am Loveland, an affiliate of local nonprofit group  #LiveLoveland, is financially supported by local business leaders including Troy McWhinney, Curt Burgener and Martin Lind.

“Our small businesses are certainly struggling and small businesses are our lifeblood and the backbone of our economy,” Loveland Chamber of Commerce CEO Mindy McCloughan said. “Helping to prop them up right now is essential to our recovery efforts.”

Clay Caldwel, owner of Loveland’s Betta Gumbo restaurant and grant recipient, said programs such as I Am Loveland give supporters “ability to reach out into the community and do what’s right.”
