Developer buys Broomfield parcel, plans multifamily project

BROOMFIELD — MLC Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of builder Meritage Homes Corp. (NYSE: MTH), recently purchased a roughly 25-acre parcel in Broomfield, where the firm plans to build a new multifamily residential community called Vive on Via Varra.

The developer has submitted an application to build 263 townhomes and 50 affordably priced apartments units.

“The townhomes will range in size from approximately 1,428 square feet to 2,181 square feet,” according to documents submitted to city planners by MLC. “The anticipated price range is from the low to mid-$400s.”

The property at the intersection of Via Varra and Northwest Parkway was bought from Broomfield Commercial LLC for more than $13.6 million, Broomfield property records show.

Broomfield Commercial, according to Colorado Secretary of State filings, is registered to a residential address in Belvedere, California.

Vive on Via Varra will be adjacent to other existing apartment complexes, including Caliber Apartments and Retreat at the Flatirons.

In October, the Broomfield City Council approved a planned unit development amendment that sets the stage for the construction of Vive on Via Varra.
