Jake Carpenter, founder of Burton Snowboards, dies at 65
Jake Burton Carpenter, the namesake of Burton Snowboards, died Wednesday after his testicular cancer returned from remission. He was 65.
The Colorado Sun reports Carpenter invented the first prototype of the modern snowboard, and was instrumental in spreading the sport from his native Vermont to the slopes of Colorado.
