Wife, husband duo take over Linden Marketing

FORT COLLINS — Maggie and Joel York met about five years ago when both were employees at Linden Marketing in Fort Collins.

Half a decade later, a lot has changed for the pair: they’re now married and are the new owners of the agency where they met.

“Linden has been where we’ve gotten to know each other and figured out that we were good at working with one another,” Joel York said.

Exploring & expressing grief

Support groups and events, as well as creative therapies and professional counseling, are all ways in which Pathways supports individuals dealing with grief and loss.

Maggie York is Linden’s longtime account executive, and Joel York has spearheaded new client relations.

“Since we met, we’ve always wanted to own a business together and when this opportunity presented itself, it was a sign that this is where we were meant to be and this is what we were meant to do,” he said.

Discussions about transitioning ownership the company from founder Susie Cannon to the Yorks began about a year ago, and the deal closed earlier this fall.

Cannon, who founded Linden in 1996, has stepped away from the business and is entering retirement.

“She wanted to make sure she was selling to someone she trusted and someone she knows will carry on her vision,” Maggie York said.

Linden staffers and clients shouldn’t expect any major shakeups now that the company is being led by a new regime.

“I think the staff is excited that we’ve taken over because they know us and we’ve worked together for a long time,” Joel York said. “We just want to bring in some younger energy and positivity…Our main goal is doubling down on our commitment to the team and the clients.”

The Yorks are not strangers to owning a business. Joel York founded and continues to operate video production firm Flickfinity LLC.

“We’re actually looking at ways we could merge the two businesses,” Joel York said.

Maggie York acknowledged that taking over an established firm such as Linden is a unique challenge.

“We’re really jumping into the deep-end,” she said. “But I think that’s what Joel and I love to do.”
