Election 2019: Longmont voters wary of new tax for ice rink, pool

LONGMONT — Nearly two-thirds of Longmont voters are against increasing local sales taxes to pay for the construction of a new ice rink and pool complex.

As of 7 p.m., with 49,310 ballots of an expected 107,906 Boulder County ballots counted, 65.97  percent of votes cast opposed Longmont Ballot Issue 3B.

The measure increases sales and use tax by 0.18 percent and authorizes the sale of $45.5 million in bonds for the construction of a competitive indoor pool and ice rink. The project is not to exceed $72.26 million.
