Election 2019: Longmont mayor takes early lead, large opposition to pool and ice rink proposition

This is the latest information on races BizWest is watching in Longmont. All votes are accurate as reported by the Colorado Secretary of State as of 8 p.m.

Longmont mayor

Incumbent mayor Brian Bagley took a dominant lead in his first re-election bid, pulling forward with 10,451 votes, or 80.3 percent, over University of Colorado student Schuyler Trowbridge’s 2,560 votes.

Longmont Issue 3B

Longmont voters appear largely against that city raising taxes and taking bonds to expand its recreation offerings.

65.9 percent of early ballot returns voted against Longmont Ballot Issue, while 34.1 percent were in favor. Vote totals include both Weld and Boulder County voters.

Under 3B, Longmont would use $45.5 million generated from municipal bonds and a .18 percent hike in sales taxes to fund an Olympic pool and ice rink facility. The overall cost of the project is capped at $72.26 million.
