Funding Friday: Texas hotels and very cold atoms

Some notable rounds this week:

  • McWhinney Real Estate Services Inc. posted almost $41 million in private capital raises earlier this week to fund the construction of a 31-story hotel in downtown Austin, Texas. Construction is slated to start this month, with an open date in fall 2021.
  • ColdQuanta Inc., a Boulder atomic sciences company, took $2.8 million in grants and contracts from four U.S. defense agencies for commercializing its process of freezing atoms to near-absolute zero temperatures for use as physical sensors.

Nov. 1: Auxxit Inc., Boulder: $100,000 raised, goal reached via equity and various debt options.
