Electrical utility suggests early closure of coal plants

PacifiCorp, an electrical utility that serves 1.9 million customers, says that it could save nearly $600 million by shuttering several coal-fired units in Wyoming and elsewhere.

The Wyoming Business Report said in its report that the company has prepared 30 options, with the greatest savings achieved by early closure of coal plants and using alternative methods — natural gas, wind and solar —  to generate power.
