Water conference, energy summit kick off Thursday

LOVELAND — Real estate professionals who attend Thursday’s Confluence: Northern Colorado Water Conference hosted by BizWest will be eligible for four VanEd real estate continuing education credits.

VanEd will charge $10 for the credits, which is in addition to the conference fee. The charge for the credits can be paid in advance or during the conference, however, payment for the credits must occur before the keynote address, according to VanEd rules.

Confluence is a new event, and it will occur the same day and at the same venue as BizWest’s annual Colorado Energy Summit. The VanEd credits apply to subject matter presented during the water conference and not the energy summit.

Ways to thank a caregiver

If you have a caregiver or know someone who has been serving as a primary caregiver, March 3rd is the day to reach out and show them how much they are valued!

Confluence kicks off at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday at the Ranch events complex, 5280 Arena Circle, Suite 100, Loveland.

Among the topics to be discussed:

  • The NISP decision (Northern Integrated Supply Project)
  • A discussion about creationing a water bank in Northern Colorado
  • The effect of rising water prices on growth in the region
  • The impact of demand for water on agricultural operations

The keynote address, which is titled The Nexus of Water and Energy, will bridge the morning water conference and the afternoon energy conference. Patty Limerick, director of the Center for the American West at the University of Colorado Boulder, will deliver the keynote.

The Colorado Energy Conference has been updated this year to explore how traditional energy and renewable energy can complement one another, and how renewable technologies can be integrated with traditional energy development to create a better, cleaner energy future.

Topics to be discussed at the energy conference are:

  • Blending renewables with traditional energy
  • What the Front Range faces with new ozone regulations
  • How to ratchet down greenhouse gas emissions
  • What local governments are doing to adapt to SB 181, the new state law that rebalances public safety with oil and gas production.

Registration for either or both of the conferences can occur here. Registration fee for either conference is $53.49 or $103.49 for both. For groups of five or more, tickets are $43.49 each for individual events or $83.49 for day passes.
