BOULDER — Ball Aerospace teams in Boulder recently completed design review of NASA’s Imaging X-Ray Polarimetry Explorer space-based astrophysics observatory.
The IXPE system “measures the polarization of cosmic X-rays to improve our understanding of the fundamental physics of extreme and exotic objects in the universe, such as black holes,” according to a Ball news release.
The company is providing NASA with the IXPE spacecraft, mechanical and structural elements of the payload, observatory assembly, and integration and test for IXPE, the release said.
