Consolidation continues in wind turbine industry

The top five wind turbine manufacturers will hold 68 percent of the turbine market share by next year, with Vestas Wind Systems A/S, a Danish company with operations in Windsor, Brighton and Pueblo, leading the pack.

The CleanTechnica website reported on the contents of a report titled Global Wind Turbine OEM Market Share Forecasts, which was produced by Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables, an energy analyst firm.

The report suggests there will be continued consolidation in Western production of wind technology. In addition to Vestas, other top producers are Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy S.A. and General Electric Co. Chinese manufacturers will be among the top five, the report said, with the Chinese companies expanding into the global market.
