Kachuwa fund begins fundraising round

BOULDER — Kachuwa Impact Fund, a social investing group led by the founder of Namaste Solar in Boulder, has begun a $5 million fundraising round.

Kachuwa started the fundraising round June 10, securing $75,000 out of its $5 million goal, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The fund is led by Blake Jones, the founder and former chief executive officer of Namaste Solar. He stepped down from the CEO role in 2016 but continues to work there part-time. According to its website, Kachuwa aims to support “impact companies” that include making social and environmental good in their missions. Jones also co-founded Clean Energy Credit Union and two solar installation and maintenance cooperatives in Boulder.

Jones declined to comment on the purpose of the round Wednesday morning, but said the offering is set to close Nov. 15.
