April unemployment drops to 2.3% in Boulder, Larimer counties

The unemployment rate in all four counties in the Northern Colorado and Boulder Valley regions fell in April.

Boulder and Larimer counties posted the lowest non-seasonably adjusted April jobless rate of 2.3 percent, according to new data from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. That’s down from a March rate of 2.5 percent for Boulder County and 2.6 percent for Larimer County.

Broomfield County’s rate dropped from 2.6 percent in March to 2.5 percent in April.

The jobless rate in Weld County was 2.5 percent in April, down from 2.8 percent the previous month.

The statewide unadjusted unemployment rate was 2.7 percent in April compared with 3 percent in March.

Employers in Colorado added 9,500 nonfarm payroll jobs from March to April for a total of 2,765,200 jobs, according to CDLE data.

The average workweek has decreased year-over-year from 33.9 to 32.6 hours. Workers’ hourly earnings have increased from $28.79 to $30.34.
