TRU receives grant from charitable foundation

BROOMFIELD — TRU Community Care has received a grant from Griswold Home Care’s charitable foundation for its work to provide a continuum of quality care for local residents living with advanced illness and loss. This grant was awarded through the foundation’s new program, Griswold Gives, which recognizes nonprofits dedicated to assisting seniors and residents in need throughout their communities.

Founded in 1976, TRU is a local nonprofit dedicated to transforming health care by offering services to those living with illness and loss, including hospice services, palliative care, support groups and education regarding end-of-life care. The nonprofit will use the grant to build raised garden beds for participants of TRU PACE — a program that provides seniors with  medical and social services so they can continue living safely in their communities.

“At Griswold Home Care, helping people in our community live happy, healthy lives in the place they love has always been so important to us,” said Jim Middleton, director of Griswold Home Care of Westminster, Broomfield and Boulder, which awarded the grant. “TRU Community Care has made an incredible impact on the community through offering resources that empower our neighbors living with advanced illness to lead the fullest lives possible. On behalf of the Jean Griswold Foundation, we are proud to support an organization that shares this same mission.”

Exploring & expressing grief

Support groups and events, as well as creative therapies and professional counseling, are all ways in which Pathways supports individuals dealing with grief and loss.

The Jean Griswold Foundation is a private charity established by Griswold Home Care to further the company’s belief that care for the elderly and disabled should be available to all. Every dollar donated is used to further its mission to support programs and services that allow seniors to age in place. Formerly the Griswold Cares Foundation, the nonprofit changed its name in 2016 to honor the founder of Griswold Home Care, Dr. Jean Griswold, who died in 2017.
