Cheba Hut plans rapid national growth

FORT COLLINS – Cheba Hut, a cannabis-themed sandwich shop, plans to open 200 stores by 2025.

The Northern Colorado chain will open its 25th location later this month in Las Vegas and has three more planned for Colorado this year in Johnstown, Colorado Springs and Greeley, reports the Coloradoan.

There are franchise agreements for Atlanta, Austin, Maui and Riverside, California.

The company plans to have 50 stores nationally by 2021 and 200 by the end of 2025. In 2018, the chain had about $30 million in sales, or about $1.5 million per location. The goal is to grow that figure to $2 million.

The sandwich chain started in Tempe, Arizona before moving its headquarters to Fort Collins four years ago. As part of the expansion, owner Scott Jennings purchased 406 N. College Ave. to serve as corporate headquarters. That building includes Jukebox Quilts, Open Stage Theatre, Experience Bike Tours and others. Jennings also owns the Still Whiskey Steaks restaurant in Old Town Fort Collins.
