Hickenlooper economic report card mostly up

The economic record of Colorado under Gov. John Hickenlooper is largely positive, as captured in eight charts assembled by Colorado Public Radio.

Much changed during the governor’s two terms. Hickenlooper leaves office in a few days as Gov.-elect Jared Polis takes office.

Among the changes captured by CPR:

  • Unemployment: Way down
  • Brewery growth: Way up
  • Population: Trend continued with migration away from plains and northwest to the Front Range
  • Oil and gas production: Way up
  • Marijuana sales: Up significantly
  • Firearms sales: Up, spurred by response to mass shootings
  • Personal income growth: Up
  • House price index growth: Way up
