Steamboat to replace its gondola with faster model

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Steamboat Resort will replace its iconic gondola with a faster model.

Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. announced last week that it will work next summer to replace the gondola, which has thousands of hours of running time to its credit, according to a report in the Steamboat Pilot. The replacement will be a $15 million investment and will increase capacity, because of its size, and decrease ride time by a couple of minutes per trip.

The gondola project is part of a $555 million investment that Alterra Mountain Co. is making to its family of resorts.
