Fort Collins business specialists wins state economic development award

FORT COLLINS — Shannon Hein, a business specialist in Fort Collins’ economic development office, was recently named the Economic Development Council of Colorado’s Rookie of the Year.

The council’s annual EDIE Awards seeks to identify and recognize individuals and groups that demonstrate economic development excellence during the year.

“Many aspects of Colorado’s economic success can be attributed to the hard work, dedication, and contributions of communities, institutions and individuals who our awardees represent,” EDCC board chairman Jeremy Riemann said in a prepared statement.

Hein has helped lead change in the organization and the community’s overall economic health strategy, according to an EDCC news release. She was recognized for her work on a construction toolkit, creating coffee chats with Fort Collins’ mayor and city manager for businesses to build relationships, and her efforts to visit more than 100 businesses to build strong collaboration and partnerships.

“Though only in the position for a short time, Hein has been able to move the needle in the community of Fort Collins,” the release said.
