New lounge to open near UNC campus in Greeley

GREELEY — An eclectic new bar is coming to a basement space beneath a Chipotle Mexican Grill just north of the University of Northern Colorado.

The Ehko Lounge in Greeley will be “a combination of a nightclub, a bar, an arcade and a college lounge,” owner Taylor Loftin said.

The roughly 4,000-square-foot lounge at the corner of 17th Street and Eighth Avenue is expected to open by mid-November. Loftin said the space is ready to open now, but he is waiting for his liquor license to be finalized.

Ehko will have two bars, a VIP area outfitted with a collection of retro arcade games such as Pac Man and pinball, a stage for music and comedy performances, a DJ area and a dance floor.

The capacity will be about 150 to 200 patrons, Loftin said. Customers over the age of 18 will be allowed in on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays — the remainder of the week will be 21 and over.

Ehko is located next to Loftin’s other business, the Kold Ink tattoo shop.

Loftin, a former DJ, said, “Its has always kind of been a dream to do something like this.”

“As a DJ I spent a lot of time in clubs, and I was tired of seeing things done wrong,” he said. “So I figured I’d do it myself.”
