Editorial: Larimer County voters should OK measure for mental health

The deficit in treatment of mental-health issues has reached a critical state throughout the nation, but voters in Larimer County will get another chance to address the issue, Nov. 6.

The Health District of Northern Larimer County estimates that one in five residents struggles with mental illness. Larimer County Ballot Issue 1A would generate funds to help address that need, imposing a 0.25 percent countywide sales-and-use tax that would generate funds to expand local behavioral-health services, including construction of a new regional behavioral-health facility at South Taft Hill Road and Trilby Road.

Ballot issue 1A would provide critical funding for mental-health programs and should be approved.
