Banner Health, Lyft partner for free rides to NoCo mammogram appointments

FORT COLLINS — Banner Health and Lyft are partnering to provide 1,000 free rides to help Northern Coloradans get to mammogram appointments.

The roundtrip rides will be available in Fort Collins and Greeley.

The partnership dovetails with October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month and aims to combat a recent trend of declining mammography rates, according to a Banner Health news release.

WomenGive, a program of United Way of Larimer County, was started in Larimer County in 2006 as an opportunity for women in our community to come together to help other women.

“We’re proud that we can live out our mission by providing these complimentary rides for women needing assistance,” Scott Nordlund, Banner’s chief strategy officer, said in a prepared statement. “We’re also excited that by offering this incentive, we will help many people take a more proactive approach when it comes to managing their own health.”

Once a patient has made their mammogram appointment and downloaded the Lyft app, a free ride can be scheduled by using the code BANNERCO2018.

Gabe Cohen Lyft regional general manager, said of the partnership, “Early screenings are a critical component of breast cancer awareness,” Lyft regional general manager Gabe Cohen said in a prepared statement. “We hope that by providing rides, we can remove any barriers to transportation, so passengers can make early detection a priority.”
