Frank to step down as CSU president

FORT COLLINS — Tony Frank will step down from his position as Colorado State University’s president next July and transition into a full-time CSU system chancellor role.

Frank has been president of CSU for 11 years and has served as chancellor of the three-campus system — Fort Collins, Pueblo and CSU Global —  for the last five years.

“It’s now time for the next step in our university’s trajectory —  and that will require the articulation of a new vision for Colorado State,” Frank wrote in a message posted on the school’s website. “ … I believe the person leading those discussions and serving to articulate and lead the implementation of that vision should be someone who will be here to see us through that next decade.“

The school’s governing board plans to launch a national search for a new university president. Details about the search are expected to be announced in the next few weeks.

“Tony Frank is one of the most respected leaders in higher education today, and his leadership for our flagship CSU campus has been extraordinary,” Rico Munn, chairman of the CSU system board, said in a prepared statement. “We believe our system will benefit most if he now is able to focus on the larger issues and opportunities facing all of our CSU campuses.”
