Cheyenne Chamber preps regional businesses for upcoming $90B investment

CHEYENNE — The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce is launching a new initiative to prepare area businesses for an upcoming $90 billion investment to modernize F.E. Warren’s Air Force Base’s nuclear mission.

The “Ground Based Strategic Deterrent Initiative” will engage and prepare regional businesses and the economy for an opportunity to compete for contracts, services and products from two military contractors vying for the project, reports the Wyoming Business Report. The $90 billion economic development investment is the largest in Wyoming’s history.

The two vendors competing — Boeing and Northrup Grumman — are participating in a product design competition from the Department of Defense. Meanwhile, the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce is looking to prepare local businesses by providing resources such as an overview of the GBSD, the projected timeline, vendor information and a process navigation consultant.
