BOULDER — Former University of Colorado president John Buechner has died at 82.
Buechner, who also is a former Boulder mayor and state representative during the 1970s, was CU president from 1995-2000.
While owning a building seems like something every successful business should do, that’s not always the case. For many companies, it makes more sense to continue leasing space, freeing up time and capital that can be better utilized in other ways.
The Boulder Camera quoted his family as saying, “John had a great affinity for the University of Colorado. He spent over 50 years being associated with CU in a variety of roles … (and) he took great pride in being associated with CU and worked untiringly in hopes of having a positive impact with students, staff, faculty and friends of the university.”
