Louisville-based bioscience firm Rezolute lays off half of staff

LOUISVILLE – Rezolute Inc., the bioscience company based in Louisville and formerly known as AntriaBio Inc., has laid off about half of its roughly 50-employee staff and has eliminated its manufacturing operation.

The Daily Camera reports that the layoffs came less than a week after Rezolute announced it had raised $5 million on a round of convertible note financing to be used for working capital as well as the appointment of Hoyoung Huh as company vice chairman. It’s unclear whether the financing and board appointment are related to the layoffs.

The company, develops drugs for metabolic and orphan diseases.

Noopur Liffick, Rezolute’s vice president of corporate development, told the Daily Camera that the staff reduction was a result of a decreased need for the local manufacturing operation.
