Brent Davis, the hospital’s chief financial officer, has been serving as interim CEO until McKinney begins her new job Nov. 20.

Avista — a Centura Health System hospital — conducted a nationwide search for Barts’ replacement, and chose McKinney, who works in the Adventist Health System as vice president of strategic business development at Florida Hospital in Orlando.

Ways to thank a caregiver

If you have a caregiver or know someone who has been serving as a primary caregiver, March 3rd is the day to reach out and show them how much they are valued!

“McKinney has an infectious amount of energy,”  Edward Sim, president of Centura Health’s Mountains and North Denver Operating Group, said in a prepared statement. He said McKinney initiated several major expansion projects at Florida Hospital and is credited with facilitating increases in volume and hospital profitability.

Barts has moved to Kansas City, Mo., to be closer to his children and grandchildren, but will return to help Mckinney transition into her new leadership role.

“Jillyan’s enthusiasm can fuel those around her to move Avista Adventist Hospital to the next level, she’s the perfect addition to the team,” Barts said.

During his time at Avista, Barts led the expansion of ambulatory care with the development of the Church Ranch Neighborhood Health Center and Emergency Center along with expansion of physician practices at Erie and on the Avista campus in Louisville.  The hospital has shown significant growth in surgical services and has recently started a robotic-surgery program with emphasis in gynecologic oncology and general surgery.  During Barts’ tenure, Avista has received national recognition as a Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Gynecology and has received top-quality awards from Healthgrades, Women’s Certified and the Joint Commission.

Avista Adventist Hospital is a full-service, 114-bed acute-care hospital with a medical staff of more than 600 physicians.
