Regional brewers win medals at GABF

BOULDER — Colorado brewers were well represented on the list of winners of the 2017 Great American Beer Festival, held in Denver last weekend. The event is produced by the Boulder-based Brewers Association to recognize small and independent beer producers.

Regional brewers continued to show well at the 31st annual competition with 14 entries listed among the medal winners.

WomenGive, a program of United Way of Larimer County, was started in Larimer County in 2006 as an opportunity for women in our community to come together to help other women.

Overall, 293 medals were awarded, plus three Pro-Am medals to teams of homebrewers paired with professionals. Two of the three Pro-Am winners were from Fort Collins.

GABF is the largest commercial beer competition in the world. Medals are coveted by large and small brewers alike.

Winners were chosen out of 7,923 competition entries from 2,217 breweries in 50 states plus Washington, D.C. (a 15 percent and 24 percent increase respectively from the 7,301 entries and 1,783 breweries in 2016), according to a prepared statement.
