Students to tour manufacturers Oct. 6

Students from two school districts will visit manufacturing companies on Oct. 6, which is National Manufacturing Day.

The Northern Colorado Manufacturing Partnership, a group that advocates for manufacturing in the region, will host the students as part of its Manufacturing Rocks program.

Districts participating this year are the St. Vrain Valley School District and the Poudre Valley School District. Students in St. Vrain will visit Zometool and Custom Microwave, and students from Poudre will visit Advanced Energy, Precision Machined Products, Neuworks Mechanical and Manes Machine.

Business Cares: April 2024

In Colorado, 1 in 3 women, 1 in 3 men and 1 in 2 transgender individuals will experience an attempted or completed sexual assault in their lifetime. During April, we recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month with the hopes of increasing conversations about this very important issue.

Manufacturing Rocks is one of two programs that the partnership uses to promote the manufacturing industry. The program is intended to increase awareness in high schools of the manufacturing opportunities available to graduates with or without a post-high-school education, according to a prepared statement from the organization.

The other partnership program is The Networks Group, which is composed of manufacturing advocates who use their positions and influence to make connections within the region and state to give manufacturing opportunity to grow.

Manufacturing Rocks permits students with a potential interest in manufacturing to tour, talk to employees, and visualize what it might be like to work in a manufacturing job and pursue a career in manufacturing.  The program provides busing, food, and coordination between high schools and manufacturers.

Other tours are planned later in October and November.
