Colorado selected as one of 10 winners for Hyperloop project

Colorado was selected as one of 10 winners of the Hyperloop One Global Challenge to identify the strongest new Hyperloop routes in the world.

The 360-mile route extends between Cheyenne and Pueblo through 10 urban centers on the Front Range, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. The Rocky Mountain Hyperloop Consortium submitted the proposal. The consortium includes CDOT, Denver International Airport and the city of Greeley.

The contest was held by Hyperloop One, a Los Angeles-based company looking to commercialize hyperloop transportation.

As one of the selected proposals, Hyperloop One is entering into a public-private partnership with CDOT and engineering firm AECOM to conduct a feasibility study on the Front Range route.

The 10 winning routes connect 53 urban centers and 150 million people in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, India and the United Kingdom. The combined distance is more than 4,000 miles.

Other winning projects include Chicago to Columbus to Pittsburgh; Dallas to Laredo to Houston; Miami to Orlando; Toronto to Montreal; Mexico City to Guadalajara; Edinburgh to London; Glasgow to Liverpool; Bengaluru to Chennai; and Mumbai to Chennai.
