Aims CC celebrates opening of applied technology center

GREELEY — Aims Community College celebrated the opening of its new Applied Technology and Trades Center and Welding Building renovation with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Aug. 16.

The project will boost vocational education in Northern Colorado. The Applied Technology and Trades Center houses programs focused on construction management, engineering technology with computer-aided drafting and 3D printing; industrial technology; and oil and gas technology. Along with the renovated welding building, the new space totals more than 72,000 square feet.

Speakers included Aims president Leah L. Bornstein; Aims Board of Trustees member Mark Hout; Aims vice president of academic affairs Deb Kish; Aims executive director of facilities and operations Michael Millsapps; AquaHot president and NoCo Manufacturing Sector Partnership vice chair Paul Harter; and Upstate Colorado president and CEO Rich Werner. The ribbon was held by a robot arm and survey tripod and provided by the Greeley Chamber of Commerce.

Denver-based DLR Group served as architects for the project, with Longmont-based Golden Triangle Construction Co. serving as general contractor.
