Houston firm acquires NoCo’s longtime Allnutt Funeral Service

FORT COLLINS — Houston-based Service Corporation International has acquired Allnutt Funeral Service, a family-owned business that has served clients in Northern Colorado since 1886.

Financial terms were not disclosed about the deal that will add Allnutt Funeral Service to SCI’s Dignity Memorial brand.

Allnutt Funeral Service provides funeral, cremation, pre-planning and cemetery services through mortuaries that operate under various names in Fort Collins, Longmont, Greeley, Estes Park, Grand Junction, Meeker, Craig and western Nebraska.

In 1985, Rick Allnutt joined his father, Bill, to become the fifth generation of his family to serve Northern Colorado in the funeral-service business.

“Earlier this year, my family and I began to consider succession planning for our firm,” Rick Allnutt said in a prepared statement. “The more we reflected on this, the more it became clear that to ensure long-term success and to continue to provide great care and quality to the families we serve and our communities, the best path for our team and our client families was to transition ownership to a trusted partner.

Allnutt said that as part of the Dignity Memorial network, Allnutt’s service professionals will continue to meet the needs of families for many years, with new benefits and resources available through this national network.

“We are excited to welcome Allnutt Funeral Service to the Dignity Memorial family in Colorado,” John Faulk, vice president of business development for Service Corporation International, said in a prepared statement. “Allnutt Funeral Service has a longstanding history and commitment to the Northern Colorado community and will continue to serve client families in the Northern Colorado area with the same level of service excellence they have come to expect.”
