Zayo executive resigns to return to Level 3 after one month in role

Two Front Range telecommunications companies are going through personnel changes, as the sales officer of one company leaves to return to the other.

Zayo Group Holdings Inc. (NYSE: ZAYO) announced that Edward Morche, president of sales, was resigning after just one month in the position to rejoin Level 3 Communications (NYSE: LVLT). Morche cited his reasons for leaving are for an enhanced compensation package and increased responsibility at the new role, according to a statement from Zayo.

Morche will now serve as president of strategic enterprise for federal and state government at Level 3 and continue in the role as it merges with CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL).

Morche will serve under the combined entity’s chief operations officer, Jeff Storey, who is currently CEO of Level 3. Morche’s division is one of five in the organizational structure under operations. The others include global accounts management (which will be headed by Level 3 exec Laurinda Pang); small and midsize business, local government and education; wholesale and indirect; and consumer.
Zayo, which was founded by two former Level 3 executives, has sad that Morche’s contribution during his short tenure was helpful and provided valuable feedback to executives.

Zayo’s net bookings for the first quarter of 2017 were $6.9 million, a strong recovery from the last quarter of 2016.

The company added that Max Clauson, who had been leading Zayo’s sales before Morche was hired, will continue to have overall responsibility for sales and lead the team.

Level 3 expects its acquisition by CenturyLink to be completed by the end of the third quarter this year.
